Claudie Jobard

RULLY – Claudie Jobard is the 8th generation winemaker in this storied family. She has teamed with her world-famous mom to make their family’s wines in her mom’s garage — yes, where the cars used to be.

Her mom, Laurence Jobard, gained great acclaim as one of the best oenologists in France. She was the head winemaker for the Joseph Drouhin family for about 30 years. She set up Domaine Drouhin in Oregon and also trained Veronique. When Laurence retired from her position at Drouhin, she turned her garage into the winery for her familial estate.

Claudie learned the art of winemaking from her mom. Laurence also sent Claudie around the world to round out her winemaking skills. “The love of winemaking” has been transferred from parent to child in this esteemed family. Now, Claudie is the head of this tiny estate.

Claudie simply makes wonderful wines. She is meticulous in the fields because she knows you cannot make great wines unless you start with great fruit. Claudie also knows that the wine is mostly “made” in the vineyards, not the cellars. Therefore, she strikes a balance between letting the terroir and grapes express themselves while also adding a few loving touches to influence the process.

These wines represent great value. They are less expensive than most wines of similar quality. Excellent wines at a fair price equal great value. Enjoy these limited wines when you can find them.
