Givry – In 2019, Jonathan Brunot took over the management of the family estate from his father-in-law, Denis Valdenaire. Denis had worked the estate since 1987, having taken over for his father-in-law who still held the traditional last name of Chofflet. Jonathan has decided to come full circle and once again label the wines with the ancestral Chofflet family name.
Jonathan continues to run this 14-hectare domaine using “Sustainable Viticulture”. In fact, the estate is officially certified as such. This precious ground is the family legacy and needs to be cared for. He is but a steward of these vineyards for future generations.
Jonathan feels that the wines owe their personality to the vines and the plot of land where the grapes grow. Blessed with wonderful terroir, his wines definitely show a sense of place. Combined with the natural fruitiness of wines from the Cote Chalonnaise, these wines are impressive. His judicious use of French oak enhances the flavor of these wines in a way that does not mask their other qualities. These are some delicious and value-oriented wines that will give you hours of pleasure.
