Gevrey-Chambertin Jeunes Rois

BACKGROUND

Jeunes Rois means “young kings”. Everybody wants to taste the young kings wine. Once they do, they are hooked. This vineyard lies just below the line of Premier Cru vineyards; so it has a high sense of place. Chantal calls this the “lazy wine” because it always takes the longest to develop in the cellar. But once it develops, it is incredible and delivers a high quality for its price point.

TASTING NOTES

Well extracted wine with smooth tannins and nice depth. Ripe cranberry and blackberry flavors with a touch of herbal spice. Good concentration and color. Terrific value.

Strip steak and Beef Bourguignon. Medium-body cheeses, mushrooms, truffles.
