Corton Renardes GRAND CRU

BACKGROUND

Corton is the only Grand Cru appellation in Burgundy that produces both red and white Grand Cru wines (with minor exceptions). The Parent red-wine parcel is on the steep eastern-facing slope on the horseshoe-shaped Corton hill. There is a small amount of this wine made. Very exclusive.

TASTING NOTES

A powerful wine with big structure. Blackberry and mushroom aromas give way to a concentrated and fleshy center palate. Resolved tannins are present. The wine is very complex and incredibly balanced. Pleasing and persistent finish.

FOOD PAIRINGS

Grilled meat, lamb, venison, and slow roasted stews. Powerful cheeses, including sharp Cheddar. Any dish with mushrooms or truffles.
