Domaine Francois Leclerc
Gevrey-Chambertin
BACKGROUND
Francois gives me the right of first refusal to buy his wines. It’s a wonderful option to have. In 1999, Francois interned at Archery Summit in Oregon. Since I am his main client for his wines, he uses some of those techniques to accentuate the fruit component and “Americanize” his wines. Those who enjoy American Pinot Noirs are usually very impressed with this wine.
TASTING NOTES
Appealing combination of red berries, Violets, and earthy aromas that become concentrated on the palate. Good tannin structure blends well with a nice expression of terroir. The finish is worth noting.
FOOD PAIRINGS
Grilled chicken. Strip steak. Medium-body cheeses, including Cheddar cheese. Any mushroom dish.
