Echezeaux Grand Cru

BACKGROUND

Picturesque vineyard that is at the west end of the Echezeaux vineyard where it meets the “en Orveaux” gorge. Historic plot of land with 80-year-old vines. One of the most sought-after Grand Crus in Burgundy. We have picnicked with the Clerget family in this vineyard. Special experience.

TASTING NOTES

An Haute Couture Grand Cru. Deeply colored blackberry and blackcurrant flavors. Masculine wine with big tannin structure. Great complexity with layers of mocha and sweet herbs. Tightly wound in its youth. As it ages, it becomes mellow and velvety with refined length. This wine still drinks young after 12 years.

FOOD PAIRINGS

Ribeye steak. Rich dishes, like venison and wild game. Duck in a cherry sauce. Cheeses, like Citeaux and Camembert. Any mushroom or truffle dish.
